Centella asiatica grows in the tropical, swampy regions of Southeast Asia, Australia and Africa where its slender, creeping stems produce small rounded bunches of flowers. Commonly known as "tiger grass" because large cats like to roll in its leaves to help heal their wounds, it is traditionally used for its soothing and healing benefits. Centella asiatica leaf is commonly used for its beneficial action on the microcirculation and also to help soothe and regenerate the skin. The extract from its leaves and flowers is used for its high content of unsaponifiables which are recognized for their capacity to protect skin from ageing.

Responsible sourcing

Our centella asiatica has been grown in Madagascar since 2015. The supplier we have selected for this extract has worked with their local partner for 60 years, building a relationship of trust marked by numerous sustainable development initiatives. The Clarins premium, combined with other external funding, has helped finance major developments. Since 2015, we have thus helped improve access to education with the building of nearly 20 classrooms, including bathroom facilities, and rolled out nutritional programmes in schools.
